Nothing says Australian summer like a trip to the outdoor cinema.

Join us under the stars at the City of Wanneroo’s own Jacaranda Amphitheatre throughout December and February. This twelve week long cinema program features a mix of blockbuster, family friendly, action and comedy flicks.

Embrace the pre-show atmosphere, sit back, relax and indulge in treats from the food and drink vendor, or pack a picnic and enjoy a night under the stars.

Gates open from 6pm with screenings starting at approximately 7.30pm when the sun sets.

All screenings are free, but tickets and photo ID to show you are a City of Wanneroo resident are essential.  Tickets for December’s screenings will be available exclusively to City of Wanneroo residents/ratepayers from 9am Monday, 26 November.

There is a maximum of four adult tickets per email/residential address. Children 15 and under require a children’s ticket.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (M) Comedy  Wednesday, 12 December

Spread the festive laughter with this holiday comedy classic. All Clark Griswold wants is the perfect family Christmas. Things unravel quickly for Clark as he battles through troublesome decorations, unwanted relatives and an employer who renegades on a holiday bonus. Starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo and Randy Quaid, this movie is exactly what you need to get into the holiday spirit!

 

Rise of the Guardians (PG) Family / Fantasy  Friday, 14 December

Join the Immortal Guardians Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman) and the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) as they protect against the evil Boogeyman Pitch Black (Chris Pine) in this family animation film.

 

Dr Seuss How The Grinch Stole Christmas (G) Family  Saturday, 15 December

Jim Carrey stars in this family film about the reclusive Grinch trying to ruin Christmas for the citizens of Whoville. The Grinch and his dog (Max) try to steal all of the citizens presents but their plans hit an unexpected roadblock when the Grinch encounters the young Cindy Lou Who.

The Holiday (M) Family / Fantasy  Wednesday, 19 December

Two young unlucky in love women agree to swap homes in order to get a much needed break from life. With one in a Hollywood mansion and another in a quant English town each soon enough meet local boys perfect for a romantic discovery.

 

Elf (G) Family / Comedy  Friday 21, December
Raised among Santa’s elves by Papa Elf, Buddy grew up in the North Pole inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his unusual large size. On a journey of self-discovery, Buddy travels to New York City, in full elf uniform to find his real father.

 

Santa Clause 3 (G) Family  Saturday 22, December
The Christmas spirit turns sour when Santa (Tim Allen), invites the in-laws for a visit to the North Pole. Meanwhile Santa must simultaneously contend with Jack Frost’s (Martin Short) scheme to take over the North Pole.

Movie Classifications

G – General, suitable for everyone. Content is very mild in impact.

PG – Parental guidance is recommended for children under 15 years of age.

M – Recommended for mature audiences. Content is moderate in impact.

MA15+ – Mature accompanied. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

 

It is at your discretion whether it will be appropriate to bring your children to specific movie screenings. All children under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

 

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and rugs, however high chairs are only permitted in the back row — this area fills up quickly, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Prams and inflatable furniture are not permitted. This is an alcohol and smoke free event.
