Nothing says Australian summer like a trip to the outdoor cinema.

Join us under the stars at the City of Wanneroo’s own Jacaranda Amphitheatre throughout December and February. This twelve week long cinema program features a mix of blockbuster, family friendly, action and comedy flicks.

Embrace the pre-show atmosphere, sit back, relax and indulge in treats from the food and drink vendor, or pack a picnic and enjoy a night under the stars.

Gates open from 6pm with screenings starting at approximately 7.30pm when the sun sets.

All screenings are free, but tickets and photo ID to show you are a City of Wanneroo resident are essential. 

There is a maximum of four adult tickets per email/residential address. Children 15 and under require a children’s ticket.

Paddington is a popular member of the community. One day he purchases the perfect birthday present for his aunt’s 100th birthday. When a thief steals the book, Paddington embarks on an epic quest to catch the culprit before his aunt’s big celebration.

 

A Dog’s Purpose (PG) Family Friday 4 January – SOLD OUT

Watch as a devoted dog discovers the meaning of existence through the lives of the humans it teaches. Reincarnated as multiple canines over the course of five decades, the pooch develops an unbreakable bond with a kindred spirit named Ethan. As Ethan grows older and comes to a crossroad, the dog once again comes back into his life to remind him of his true self.

 

The Lego Movie (PG) Family / Fantasy / Action Saturday 5 January – SOLD OUT

Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules, is mistakenly identified as the key to saving the world. He finds himself on a mission to stop an evil tyrant’s (Will Ferrell) plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly and hilariously unprepared for such a task, but he’ll give it his all nonetheless!

Early Man (PG) Family Wednesday 9 January

Join cavemen Dug and Hognob and the rest of their tribe as they face a grave threat to their existence. Lord Nooth plans to take over their land and transform it into a giant mine, forcing Dug and his crew to dig for precious metals. Not ready to go down without a fight, Dug and Hognob must unite their people in an epic quest to defeat a mighty enemy!

 

The Greatest Showman (PG) Adventure / Family Friday 11 January – SOLD OUT

The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

 

Richard The Stork (G) Family Saturday, 12 January – SOLD OUT

An orphaned sparrow is adopted and raised by storks. When the family leaves on its annual migration, the little sparrow attempts to participate in the long, arduous journey.

Cars 3 (G) Family Wednesday 16 January

Lighting McQueen finds himself out of his depth by a new generation of race cars. Hoping to get back in the race, he enlists the help of an up and coming technician Cruz Ramirez who along with Fabulous Hudson Hornet prepares the number 95 to compete on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage.

 

Cinderella (G) Family Friday 18 January

After her father unexpectedly dies, young Ella (Lily James) finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and stepsisters. An invitation to a palace ball gives Ella hope that she might reunite with the dashing stranger (Richard Madden) but her stepmother prevents her from going. Help arrives in the form of a kindly beggar woman who has a magic touch.

 

Sicario: Day Of The Soldado (MA) Action Saturday 19 January

When a Mexican drug cartels start to smuggle terrorists across the US border FBI agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on operative Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro). The war heats up when Alejandro kidnaps the daughter of a top kingpin to deliberately increase tensions.

Rampage (MA) Action Friday 25 January

Join primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson) and his extraordinarily intelligent albino silverback gorilla as they battle against mutated alpha predators that are tearing across North America, destroying everything in their path.

 

Daddy’s Home 2 (PG) Family/Comedy Saturday 26 January
The newly formed partnership of Father Dusty and stepfather Brad gets put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho dad and Brad’s gentle father arrive to turn the festive holiday upside down. Solo: A Star Wars Story (M) Action/Fantasy Friday 1 February

A young Han Solo joins forces with a gang of galactic smugglers and a 190-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca.  In order to repay a gangster debt, the crew devise a daring plan to travel to the mining planet Kessel to steal valuable coaxium. In need of a fast ship, Solo meets Lando Calrissian, the owner of the perfect vessel for the mission — the Millennium Falcon.

 

Ready Player One (M) Fantasy/Action Saturday 2 February

From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure Ready Player One.  Set in 2045, and the world on the brink of collapse the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe.  When the creator of this virtual universe dies he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS which sparks a worldwide contest. One month every year, five highly competitive friends compete in a no-holds-barred game of tag risking all they have in order bring one another down. This time, the game coincides with the wedding of the only undefeated player. What should be an easy target soon becomes an all-out war as he knows they’re coming to get him.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (M) Action  Wednesday 13 February

It’s been three years since the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park when Owen Grady and Claire Dearing return to the island in order to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that’s about to erupt.  They soon however encounter new breeds of gigantic dinosaurs, while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet.

 

Mission Impossible: Fallout (M) Action Friday 15 February

Ethan Hunt and his team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to stop arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles as they plot to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack.

 

Black Panther (M) Action/Fantasy Saturday 16 February

Ferdinand (G) Comedy/Family Wednesday 20 February

Ferdinand is a young bull who escapes from a training camp in rural Spain after his father fails to return from a showdown with a matador. Ferdinand then lives a life of ease when he is adopted by a girl who lives on a farm.  This existence is short lived when the authorities return him to his former captors. With the assistance of a wisecracking goat and three hedgehogs, Ferdinand must find a way to break free before he squares off against El Primero, the famous bullfighter who is undefeated.

 

The Shawshank Redemption (MA) Drama Friday 22 February
Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) despite his innocence is sentenced to two consecutive life terms in a tough prison for the murders of his wife and her lover. While there, he forms a friendship with Red (Morgan Freeman), experiences brutality of prison life at the hands of prisoners and an unjust warden.

 

Adrift (M) Drama Saturday 23 February

Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp couldn’t know they were sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. After surviving the hurricane, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins. Movie Classifications

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and rugs, however high chairs are only permitted in the back row — this area fills up quickly, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Prams and inflatable furniture are not permitted. This is an alcohol and smoke free event.
